The first blue cheese was a happy accident when old bread got too close to a piece of ripening cheese. It took some time before cheese makers in the middle-ages harnessed this chemical reaction. And, we are so happy they did.
Montforte Blue is extremely versatile. It can be used atop salads, including fruit salads, melted on a burger or as a striking earthy and piquant addition to a cheese course. Or, serve it with walnuts and pears, matched with that prized Port you have been saving, as a dessert your guests will talk about for days.
Prices are for about ½ pound.
